Grease facepaint is also called theater facepaint. This kind of paint is often used when working in studio/theater with warm lamps or in extreme weather. The beauty of grease facepaint is that it is beautiful to blur, making characters with grease makeup is ideal because you can continue to edit and fade until you powder it off. With powder you fix the grease makeup and it will stay on perfectly.
There are 2 types of aqua facepaint:
- Glycerine base eg Kryolan.
Ideal for sponge work, nicely blending into each other
- Wax base eg Global or Diamond FX.
High pigments that are perfect for detailed line work with a brush.
This facepaint is waterproof, and yes, you can even go swimming. Perfect for those times when it’s raining cats & dogs again. Also the best kind of facepaint to use on prostetics.

The FDA and the EU both have never ending and ever changing laws as they pertain to labeling agreements and cosmetic guidelines. Because of this, face paints that contain neon pigments are still being officially third party tested by FDA and EU they are considered "use at your own risk" pigments. The main problem facing the neons is that they are very expensive to 3rd party test and until that time they can not be officially labeled as 100% in compliance. The FDA does not approve paint, they only ban pigments. UV neon pigments are not banned at this time, they are only untested. So to properly label our products we have to list that they are not 100% in accordance with International cosmetic regulations. All UV cosmetic approved colors by Kryolan are tested and approved. Sensitive skin? Then we recommend Kryolan face paint.
You get a beautiful result very quickly. The colors will directly blend in. Handy to use when making flowers and curls.
The basis of the facepaint is the biggest difference: water base or alchohol base. For what will you use it? Make your choice based on that.
A latex sponge is for make-up or grease paint.
A foam sponge is used for aquaschmink / makeup on water base.
The shape depends on personal preference or the design.
- Eyelashes: only glue them with eyelash glue. - Small stones and applications: hydromastix or pro’s aid. - larger aplications, noses, ... with mastix (not for children or sensitive skin) or pro's aid The advantage of pro's aid is that it is an elastic adhesive that is ideal for people with sensitive skin and removable with make up remover or oil.
All facepaints with a different basis ask for a different remover. Depending on which facepaint you use, you choose your remover. - Dissolve aquaschmink thoroughly and loosen from the skin before washing with water - Grease can be removed with grease. - Remove adhesive with a dissolver.
Absolutely not. This can have very bad consequences for your eyes.
